BROOKLYN ART HAUS
Off-Brand Opera’s [lab] concert returns this spring at Brooklyn Art Haus! This annual concert features a program of all-new work by up-and-coming NYC composers as well as resident OBO artists. Join us for an opportunity to be introduced to our artistic community and preview what’s next in OBO’s programming!
Applications are open until Sunday, February 23 for composers and directors!
COMPOSER SUBMISSIONS
Each composer selected for the [lab] concert will be featured for a 10-minute scene on our program. Off-Brand Opera is seeking original scenes in the style of both opera and musical theater, each of which will be staged and directed for the concert by a member of our Directing Workshop. Your work may be a single short scene or excerpted from a longer work.
Composers will be provided with video and photos of their scenes, as well as a feedback session about their compositions with OBO artists and their scene’s director and actors. For composers interested in collaborating with Off-Brand Opera on a larger scale, this concert is the best way to get your work in front of us for consideration for future seasons!

DIRECTING WORKSHOP
Off-Brand Opera’s new Directing Workshop–led by OBO Director-in-Residence Brendan Hartnett–is designed to create a space for up-and-coming directors to hone their skills in scene study, while gaining experience working with composers and staging new material. Each director will participate in a directing seminar, then be assigned a 10-minute scene to workshop in rehearsals and feedback sessions leading up to the performance; they will also have the opportunity for a feedback session with composers, their actors, and OBO artists following the concert.
Directors will be provided with photos and video of their scenes for their own promotional use. There is no charge to apply for or participate in this workshop.
